It was announced officially last month that the musical version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella will begin its previews on 28 August with an opening night on 23 September at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. But due to current state of affairs regarding health internationally, there is a delay of Cinderella’s opening at the West End.

The forthcoming new version of the musical will play on 9 October with an official opening night on 28 October.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said, “The show will go on sale next week as planned, but in the current global circumstances the creative team and I feel that this later opening date is wise.

“Full-scale pre-rehearsals of Cinderella will take place with our leading actors, as planned, throughout this month”.

The musical is directed by Laurence Connor while JoAnn Hunter is the choreographer of the show. The duo has worked together recently in the musicals School Of Rock and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Cinderella has a new book written by Emerald Fennell who won an Emmy Award for her work in Killing Eve while the title role of Cinderella will be played by Carrie Hope Fletcher who also worked in Les Misérables. The other cast and creative team of Cinderella is yet to be announced.

Cinderella will begin running at the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre on 9 October 2020.
