Disney’s Hunchback In Concert

For the first time, Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be performed in concert in the UK, with two special shows set for this summer. Fans will get the chance to experience the powerful score, performed by a full orchestra and choir, alongside a cast of West End stars.

Originally premiering in Berlin in 1999 under the title Der Glöckner von Notre Dame, the musical has since been staged in the US, Japan, Germany, and Australia but has never had a professional UK production—until now. The score, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, includes memorable songs like Out There, God Help the Outcasts, The Bells of Notre Dame, Heaven’s Light, and Hellfire, along with additional material written for the stage adaptation.

Based on Victor Hugo’s novel, the story follows Quasimodo, the reclusive bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, as he yearns for acceptance beyond the walls of his sanctuary. The concert, produced by Jack Maple, will be directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with musical supervision by WhatsOnStage Award-winner Alan Williams.

This one-of-a-kind event will take place at the Prince Edward Theatre on Sunday, 17 August 2025, with performances at 3pm and 7.30pm. It arrives as part of a big year for Disney musicals in London, running alongside the West End debut of Hercules at Theatre Royal Drury Lane from June.
