The celebrated Broadway stars of Hadestown are set to return to the West End for a limited engagement early next year. This critically acclaimed musical, with its Grammy-winning music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, and direction by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin, has already captured the hearts of audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
The original Broadway cast, including André de Shields (Hermes), Eva Noblezada (Eurydice), Reeve Carney (Orpheus), Amber Gray (Persephone), and Patrick Page (Hades), will reunite for performances at the West End’s Lyric Theatre from 11 February to 9 March 2025. Their return marks a homecoming of sorts, as they previously dazzled London audiences during the show’s sold-out National Theatre run in 2018 before its Broadway transfer.
Set to a genre-defying score, Hadestown intertwines the mythic tales of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone, creating an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back. This unique production boasts an exceptional creative team, including David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), and Bradley King (lighting design).
Tickets for this highly anticipated season go on pre-sale to the show’s mailing list on 19 December at 12pm UK time, with general sales starting on 20 December at noon. Further casting details are yet to be announced, but excitement is already building among fans.
Producer Mara Issacs expressed her delight, calling the reunion “divine magic” and highlighting the transatlantic collaboration that has become a hallmark of Hadestown. With its original stars back in London, the show’s West End love affair is set to continue in spectacular fashion.
