The spellbinding West End phenomenon Wicked has announced an extension to its London run, now booking until 4 January 2026. This milestone follows its 7,000th performance, solidifying its place as the 10th longest-running show in West End history. Adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked reimagines the backstory of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz characters, offering a fresh perspective on the lives of Elphaba, the green-skinned outcast, and Glinda, the adored “good witch.”
The current cast features Alexia Khadime as Elphaba and Lucy St. Louis as Glinda, with a stellar ensemble supporting the show’s dynamic performances. The production also boasts contributions from a host of award-winning creatives, including Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics), Winnie Holzman (book), and Joe Mantello (direction). Scenic and costume designs by Eugene Lee and Susan Hilferty bring the magical world of Oz to life, complemented by Kenneth Posner's lighting and Tony Meola's sound design.
Alongside its West End success, Wicked has embarked on its third UK and Ireland tour, captivating audiences in cities across England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for the upcoming film adaptation, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, set to premiere in November 2024.
As the West End run continues to delight, over 550,000 new tickets are now available, ensuring Wicked remains a must-see theatrical experience for years to come.
