The critically acclaimed production Kyoto will transfer to London's West End in 2025, following its premiere at Stratford-upon-Avon. Produced by the RSC and Good Chance Theatre, the political thriller, written by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson, delves into the 1997 Kyoto climate summit, where world leaders agreed on the first legally binding emissions targets.
Directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, the play earned rave reviews during its debut, including a five-star rating from WhatsOnStage, which praised it as "an epic production of a fundamentally important story." Now, it will run for a 16-week season at the West End's newest venue, @sohoplace.
The original cast, including Tony Award-nominated Stephen Kunken as Don Pearlman, will return for this London production. Alongside Kunken, actors Jenna Augen, Olivia Barrowclough, and others will reprise their roles from Stratford.
Set to run from 9 January to 3 May 2025, Kyoto promises to be a powerful and timely production, highlighting crucial moments in the history of climate legislation.
