Nana Mensah is set to star alongside Adrien Brody in the world premiere of The Fear of 13, a new drama by playwright Lindsey Ferrentino. The play will debut at London’s Donmar Warehouse on October 10 as part of Tim Sheader’s inaugural season as artistic director. Known for her recent performance in the Tony Award-nominated play Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, Mensah will join an impressive cast that includes Michael Fox, Aidan Kelly, Posi Morakinyo, Cyril Nri, Ferdy Roberts, and Tommy Sim’aan.
The Fear of 13 is inspired by the true story of Nick Yarris, who spent 22 years on Death Row in the U.S. for a crime he didn’t commit. This gripping production runs until November 30 and marks Brody’s debut on the London stage. Directed by Justin Martin, the play’s creative team includes set designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel, and lighting designer Jon Clark.
In a meaningful collaboration, Donmar Warehouse will partner with Clean Break, a charity focused on women affected by the criminal justice system, offering eight front-of-house volunteering placements to women with relevant lived experiences, continuing the theater's commitment to social justice.
