Nicole Scherzinger Set To Star In West End Revival Of Sunset Boulevard

Nicole Scherzinger has been cast in the upcoming West End production of "Sunset Boulevard," directed by Jamie Lloyd. The renowned singer and actress will take on the role of Norma Desmond, a fading film star, in this highly anticipated revival set to run for 16 weeks at the Savoy Theatre, starting in September.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Lloyd stated, "Following our successful reinterpretation of Evita at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park, I am thrilled to embark on another iconic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Sunset Boulevard boasts one of his most captivating, intricate, and atmospheric scores. We are incredibly fortunate to have the extraordinary Nicole Scherzinger on board, as she brings her exceptional talent to breathe life into this mesmerizing character."

While Scherzinger is widely recognized as the lead vocalist of the popular girl group The Pussycat Dolls, she has also showcased her versatile skills in various stage and screen musicals. Notably, she received an Olivier Award nomination for her performance in the 2014 West End revival of Webber's "Cats."

Expressing his excitement about collaborating with Scherzinger and the rest of the talented team, Andrew Lloyd Webber commented, "Nicole is undeniably one of the finest singers I have had the pleasure to work with. In "Sunset Boulevard," Scherzinger takes on the role of Norma Desmond, an aging film star who forms a complex relationship with a budding Hollywood screenwriter in her quest to revive her career. However, their connection takes a dark and disastrous turn. The book and lyrics for the production are by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, while the captivating songs, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, include memorable pieces such as "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "With One Look."

The revival of "Sunset Boulevard" is a joint endeavor between Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals and The Jamie Lloyd Company, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The Jamie Lloyd Company has an impressive lineup of productions this year, including "A Doll's House" starring Jessica Chastain on Broadway and "The Effect" featuring Paapa Essiedu and Taylor Russell, set to run at the Lyttelton Theatre from 1 August.
