Cast have been chosen for the UK tour of the international cult musical Mamma Mia!.
Having first premiered in 1999, the musical celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022 at the Novello Theatre.
The show will run throughout 2023, including open-air performances at Scarborough Open Air Theatre and in Wolverhampton, Cardiff, Manchester, Blackpool, Leeds, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Truro.
The narrative is set on a Greek island paradise and tells a story of identity, love and friendship based on the iconic music of ABBA.
The stars performing will be Sara Poyzer as Donna Sheridan, Nicky Swift as Rosie as well as Alternate Donna Sheridan, Sarah Earnshaw as Tanya, Christopher Foley as Sky, Neal Craig as Harry Bright, Richard Standing as Sam Carmichael, Jess Michelmore as Sophie Sheridan, Phil Corbitt as Bill Austin,, Tanisha Butterfield as Ali, Freya Humberstone as Lisa, Archie Flynn as Eddie, Jaden Oshenye as Pepper and Andrew Bateup as Father Alexander.
Completing the cast will be Clàudia Bahrani, Alice Baker, Peter Camilleri, Henryk Firth, Andrew Gallo, Ashleigh Harvey, Claire Greenway, Ashleigh Jones, Matt Kennedy, Robert Knight, Grace May, Ashley Rowe, Hollie Nelson, Nathen Scott, Lucy Walsham and Marissa Sims.
The show, based on a book by Catherine Johnson, is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographered by Anthony Van Laast, while music and lyrics are done by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
Howard Harrison is the light designer, Mark Thompson - production designer, Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken - sound designers, while Martin Koch is in charge of musical supervision and arrangements.
This musical comedy is a delight for all generations, even more so if you enjoy Mamma Mia! movie musical and ABBA’s timeless songs.
