Cabaret, the winner of seven Olivier Awards and one of the most acclaimed musicals of all time, is releasing a cast recording.
It will feature the original London cast of Rebecca Frecknall’s production of Cabaret, including the performances of Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley. Redmayne and Buckley won Olivier awards for best actor and best actress.
The full cast album will be released on 20 January 2023.
The current cast of the show performed on British TV last week, in this year’s Royal Variety Performance 2022.
Cabaret is now playing at the Kit Kat Club in London starring Callum Scott Howells as Emcee and Madeline Brewer as Sally Bowles, alongside Sid Sagar as Cliff Bradshaw, Vivien Parry as Fraulein Schneider, Richard Katz as Herr Schultz, Danny Mahoney as Ernst Ludwig and Michelle Bishop as Fraulein Kost.
The story revolves around the infamous Kit Kat Club as the world grows more and more uncertain:
“Leave your troubles outside. Take a seat at the hottest club in town.”
The musical is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood and features legendary songs from Kander and Ebb including Maybe This Time, Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Money and others.
Cabaret’s music is written by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, a book by Joe Masteroff, it is directed by Rebecca Frecknall, with costume and set design signed by Tom Scutt and choreography by Julia Cheng.
Musical supervisor is Jennifer Whyte and musical director Ben Ferguson, with sound design by Nick Lidster and lighting design by Isabella Byrd. The casting director is Stuart Burt and the associate director is Jordan Fein.
