A new cast has been announced for Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical at the Lyric Theatre before the show’s final performance on 8 January 2023.
The musical celebrates the extraordinary life of Jamaican reggae superstar Bob Marley, whose unforgettable music, international hits such as No Woman, No Cry or Jamming, and positive message of love, unity, and peace, continue to inspire millions around the world.
For the final weeks of the West End season, David Albury (Motown the Musical, The Lion King) will be playing the role of Bob Marley instead of Michael Duke, and Cleopatra Rey (Motown the Musical, Sister Act, Dirty Dancing) will take over the role of Rita Marley from Gabrielle Brooks. The original Bob Marley role was played by Arinze Kéne and earned an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

Shanay Holmes as Cindy Breakspeare, Melissa Brown-Taylor as Marcia Griffiths, Sophia Mackay as Judy Mowatt, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton as Peter Tosh, Jacade Simpson as Bunny Wailer, and Ivano Turco as the alternate Bob Marley.
Andrè Antonio, Craig Blake, Charles Blyth, Tom Bowen, Luke Buck, Athena Collins, Viquichele Cross, Cartell Green-Brown, Llewellyn Jamal, Callum Jaye, Michael Jeremiah, Philip Kamau, Pharrell Marshall-Green, Jack Matthew, Newton Matthews, Kieran McGinn, Kristiano Palmer, Summer Priest, Lauran Rae, Kristiano Ricardo, Zack Richards, Julene Robinson, Nate Simpson, Amarra Smith and Jaime Tait complete the cast.
The show, based on the original story by Lee Hall, premiered at the Lyric Theatre in October 2021 and won an Olivier for Best Orchestrations. The direction is signed by Clint Dyer, stage design is done by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Lisa Duncan, sound design by Tony Gayle, lighting design by Charles Balfour, and choreography by Shelley Maxwell.
