The girls of Delta Nu are back in London for the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Legally Blonde. The wonderfully camp musical officially opens on 20 May for a six-week run.
Courtney Bowman will be taking the lead role, as Elle Woods – a role previously performed in London by Sheridan Smith.
The full supporting cast has now been announced, as the production enters its rehearsal period ahead of previews, starting on 13 May.
The hot pink musical follows the story of loved-up Elle Woods who chases her high-school sweetheart to Harvard to convince him to get back together.
But Elle’s no dumb blonde, and she soon discovers that she has more to offer the world as she excels in her studies, and attracts attention from other gentlemen.
This girl-power story of defying expectations and being true to yourself promises to be a feel-good celebration of love and accomplishments that audiences new and old will fall head over heels for.
Excitingly, this production will be directed by Lucy Moss – one half of the writing team that gave us Six, the musical concert about Henry VIII’s six wives, reimagined as a girl band.
Six is also performing in London, at the Vaudeville Theatre to rave reviews – if you haven’t seen it you really must add it to your list of shows to catch up on this year.
The summer season at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre this summer starts with Legally Blonde, before 101 Dalmatians and, subsequently, Antigone take to the stage.
The theatre is London’s largest open-air theatre and draws in crowds every year for its popular summer season. Of course, the weather’s anyone’s guess, but if it’s a beautiful, warm summer’s day, you just can’t beat it.
